Safety tests

The safety behaviour of electrochemical storage systems operating outside specifications is determined through so-called abuse tests. BatterieIngenieure avails of appropriate equipment to perform such tests on cells and modules. Testing can proceed according to current regulations or standards, or be tailored to the individual requirements of our customers. The following tests are performed:

  • Nail penetration test
  • Drop test
  • High temperature test (with 10K/min)
  • Overcharge test
  • External short circuit
  • Overdischarge test
  • Thermal shock
  • Thermal cycling
  • Altitude simulation
  • Vibration testing
  • Mechanical shock
  • Electrical testing (e.g., Lithium-Plating)

In addition to video recordings, we can take optional videos with a special thermal imager for a more precise analysis of temperature profiles.
